The Opium War

The Opium War was a fight between British and Chinese. They been trade opium for tea for years into the Chinese notice that the opium was mess with thier culture. Opium was a drug that had a major addition to it. the Chinese was using the drugs heavy and the Chinese want it to be stopped before China was destory. The British refussed to stop sell opium to them because they needed the tea. British came to a point and decided they gona force the Chinses to buy the drugs and if not they gona go to war. During the war the Chinses was be killed because pf the ships and weapons the British had. China was eventually defeated by Britain, and was forced to sign the Treaty of Nanjing in 1842.

The Scramble for Africa

The scramble for Africa is also known as the Race for Africa. The main Europeans nations involved in the race was Germany,Spain,Portugal, and others. They was using Africa for trades and for slavery.The reason they was able to take over Africa so fast was because they had powerful weapons such as machine guns, and pistols and the Africans had spears. The Africans had no choice but to let them because they knew they had no chance of going agaist them without dying. This effected Africa by taking their freedom away.

Europeans faced many hardships as they traveled to the middle of Africa to find the river. Tribes of African people would ambush and kill Europeans. Malaria would also kill the Europeans. The journey they had was so long and at times not so easy without a map or food. Many Europeans died of heat and exuation. The reason why Lake Victoria the third largest lake in the world is named after a British queen is because an Englishman found it and then named it after the queen of England.

The Meiji Restoration of Japan

Matthews Perrry bullied Japan in signing trade treaty. He traveled to Japan with 4 stream ship that were wooden and ready for war. The Japan knew if they didnt sign the ship would of destoried the homes. The impact of Perry’s visit was crazy to the japanese all the strange, huge black ships and strange people, foreigners. It was like they came from Mars.They brought machines with them as in cannon and weapons. Japanese had never seen technology before. They were surise by what they saw. After the Japanese saw the ships their government decide to unlock and to see more of the world because of what Matthews Perry did. He lead the Japanese to see more of whats goin on outside of Japan so they wouldnt have to worry about being bullied by others.

Karl Marx and Communism

Communism is a way of the government in which the states makes everything equally shared by the people. This idea of communism goes way back in time of Karl Marx who was the first to come up with these ideas of communism to form new government system. A government system that everyone will be equal and not ruled by others. So that mean if u was a basketball player making a lot of money before you will lose money and make the same amount as a paper boy. He thoughth it would stop people for walking over others and it would stop alot of problems

Karl Marx and the Industrial Revolution

Karl Marx didn't like the treatment of the work in Europe. He thouht it was harsh and unsafe for the work. He urged with the workers about it . He said the workers should run farms and factiories. He feel that everyone should share wealth in a communist society. He feel that the workers should run the government systems. Karl died in 1883, but his idea formed the the basis of the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 and put a end to war 2

Nationalism and the Creation of Italy

Nationalism is when people show repect for a place or thing or feel good about their home town or their country. For an explain, the United States say the pledge of alliegence and stand for the troops thats at war for their country.
One of the countries to rise from the falling empires was Italy. Before the nationalism the Italians just saw Italy as a place to live and follow the rules of the foreigners. Then after the nationalism they dont want to follow the foreigners.Mazzini a man who created a nationalist group called young Italy and rebelled against these foreignersers. They didnt want to follow a man who wasnt from italy. They failed but it gave a lot of people the idea to want nationalism.

Simon Bolivar and Latin American Revolutions

Simon Bolivar was born July 24, 1783, his parents died when he was a child. Bolivar was rised by tutors and as a young man he traveled to Europe. He witnessed the idea of Napoleon revolution. Then he joined the Venezuelan revolution in 1810. He gained a military of victories and independence.Bolivar crushed the Spanish army at Carabobo in Venezuela June 24, 1821. His army won a victory over the Spaniards at Auacucho in 1824, He became the greatest genral and his name Bolivia was honor in 1825 and people repected him more.

Copernicus and the trail of Galileo

The Scientific Revolution came to a new theory about the universe. The universe was consider as Geocentric which means the earth is in the center of the universe, but Galileo disagreed. Galileo said the universe is Heliocentric which means the sun is in the center of the universe. Galileo used the Scientific Method to prove that geocentric is not true. The catholic church believed in Geocentric, so they took Galileo to trail about his beliefs in Heliocentric. Galileo is now known as the greatest scientist of all time.

The Scientific Method is a way of proving scientific theories. The Scientific Method is based upon, observation, analyze a hypothesis, then test your hypothesis, and correct your mistakes. The scientific method help scientist prove their point and show the steps of how it was done.
